This provider provides primary or acute healthcare in an orthopaedic clinic for acute or chronic health conditions in specific population in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Under the general direction of the department director and is responsible for providing care of patients, within scope of her/his license. Educates patients, about medical problems and prevention in relation to the personal health issues. Communicates with collaborating physician concerning treatment of patients, as appropriate. Prescribes medication as needed. Refers emergency cases to the hospital emergency department and refers complicated cases that are non-emergency to hospital affiliated physician or to a specialist as needed. Treats medical injuries, problems, or situations that she/he has been trained to treat and situations that require involving the collaborating physician that is qualified to advise. Under the supervision of a physician, provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive healthcare services to patients in an assigned area/service.
